SEPTEMBER 2003 Newsletter

Welcome back to everyone!  I hope it was a restful summer and you are all ready to make this a great year.  My goal is to have ALL of our students play in each of the four concerts (Oct. 18, 2003; Dec. 6, 2003; Mar. 20, 2004 and the Honors Concert on June 12, 2004).  Everyone who plays in all four of these concerts will receive a special award at the June 12th Honors Concert.

I would like to let you know of several very special concerts coming up that should not be missed:

1.      PHILLIP DIECKOW, pianist, in solo recital in the St. Matthew Parish Hall on October 25, Saturday at 7:30 PM.

2.      NIKOLAI LUGANSKY, pianist, in solo recital at the Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Saturday, December 14.  Check out the MMA website for tickets and time.  (This is his first performance in the United States.)

3.      ARKADY VOLODOS, pianist, in solo recital at Carnegie Hall on Saturday, January 31, 2004 at 8 PM.  Check the Carnegie Hall website for ticket information.

4.      MIKHAIL PLETNEV, pianist, in solo recital at Carnegie Hall on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at 8 PM.  Check the Carnegie Hall website for ticket information.

There is NOTHING more important than hearing live performances and we are blessed by living so near the music capital of the world.  Numbers 2, 3 and 4 are among the finest pianists in the world today.  Please try and attend as many of these events as you can.  You won’t be disappointed.

See you on October 18th,

Mr. Dieckow
