The School's History

Begun in 1986 as the DIECKOW STUDIO, the six hour  Marathon Concert on September 9th, 1990 launched the DIECKOW SCHOOL OF MUSIC in its present form.

The school is a cooperative of selected performing, artist teachers of piano, voice, guitar, violin, clarinet and flute in the Hoboken and Jersey City areas who are dedicated not only to instilling high-level musical skills in their students but also to the concept of music as a live, performing medium—whether a student has studied one month or twenty years, is five years old or seventy.

Students study in the home studios of their individual teachers and perform regularly in the five DSM Marathon Concerts held each year at the St. Matthew Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoboken and in one Honors Concert each fall at Steinway Hall in New York City.

In addition to these school concerts, numerous other faculty and guest concerts are presented to enable students and the general public to extend their knowledge and appreciation through this most important outlet of concert attendance.
