The Director and Founder

Phillip Dieckow, concert pianist, teacher and founder and director of the DIECKOW SCHOOL OF MUSIC in Hoboken and Jersey City, has been a resident of Hoboken since 1980.  He is widely known for his many concerts in the metropolitan area, including five solo recitals at Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall since 1990 and frequent concerts each season at St. Matthew Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoboken.  He is well represented by the more than forty students he teaches each week.  With influence extending far past national boundaries, students of Mr. Dieckow grace concert stages and conservatory faculties throughout the world.

A multi-faceted artist, Mr. Dieckow has given and produced over one hundred concerts in Hoboken since 1990 and serves on the board of the Lyric Theatre.  His close connections with the Moscow Gnessins Musical Institute have resulted in two Soviet/Russian Music Festivals where American and Russian performers have been presented.

In the Fall of 2004 Mr. Dieckow was appointed Artist in Residence in Piano at the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken. He will be teaching students from Stevens in addition to his current students from the DSM.

On October 17th, 2004, Sunday at 3 PM he will give a dedicatory recital in the sanctuary of the St. Matthew Trinity Lutheran Church at 8th and Hudson Streets in Hoboken. Admission is open, by donation and all are invited to celebrate the move of the historic St. Matthew Trinity historic 1883 Steinway Concert Grand into its new home in the sanctuary of the church. This concert will be the opening concert of the 2004-2005 series of "Great Music at St. Matthew Trinity". The series will feature many of our outstanding local performing artists.

"In my heart of hearts I truly believe that through the persistence and obstinacy of beauty, God forces His presence on us and that each of us, in a large or small way, is responsible for our own thread in this tapestry.  Reaching toward this with my playing and guiding others toward this end is my thread." ...
